The teaching portfolio in nurse faculty evaluation.
Abstract
Teaching portfolios are emerging as one of the most useful tools in faculty evaluation processes today. More of a summative evaluation process than a formative process, the teaching portfolio allows nurse faculty to document authentic examples of teaching effectiveness in both classroom and clinical settings. The use of the teaching portfolio as a mechanism to facilitate nurse faculty evaluation in the area of teaching is described. Practical suggestions concerning portfolio development and evaluation are offered.
