Complex Order Parameter: Ginzburg-Landau’s Theory of Superconductivity

Alexander Umantsev, Fayetteville State University

Abstract

In this chapter we lay out the phenomenological theory of superconductivity where the OP is a complex number and demonstrate how the method can help in calculating different properties of a superconductor. This is also an example of the multi-physics coupling in phase transitions. For better understanding of the material, it is useful to review Sects. 3.4 and 8.7.
