Description
Charles Waddell Chesnutt became the second Chief Executive Officer of the school when he was appointed Principal of the State Colored Normal School upon the death of Robert Harris. He served from 1880-1883. In addition to high academic achievements, he pushed students to have high ambitions, moral character, and good manners. He later became an award-winning author.
