Abstract

Use of the Internet versus electronic data interchange (EDI) is a prevalent issue in electronic commerce circles. This paper extensively reviews existing literature on EDI and discusses how the advent of the Internet affects EDI usage through analyzing and comparing advantages and disadvantages of VAN-based EDI, Internet-based EDI and XML/EDI.
