Abstract
In this chapter, the need for an increased focus on social justice in the educational leadership programs of historically Black colleges and universities is discussed. Critical race theory emerged from Black intellectuals and is part of the tradition of HBCUs. However, these institutions have lost focus on social justice leadership because of changes in their status in recent decades. Students today are hungry for the kind of leadership skills that come from teaching from a critical race and social justice perspective.
