Abstract
"Sustainable justice" may be defined as criminal laws and criminal justice institutions, policies, and practices that achieve justice in the present without compromising the ability of future generations to have the benefits of a just society. It is justice for one (person or place) that does not preclude the possibility of justice for all. In the 2012 Presidential Address to the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, I examine the problem of mass incarceration and the movement for justice reinvestment in relation to principles of sustainable development, toward the development of humane and sustainable justice practices. © 2013 Copyright Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
