Abstract

In recent years, the role of Information System Functions (ISFs) in organizations has changed dramatically. Today, most ISFs are expected to provide a variety of services to end-users at all levels of management. This paper investigates the relationship between task characteristics, perceived usefulness of information, importance of information, and perceived service quality with the ISF in three organizations. The results indicate that task structure and interdependence are negatively correlated with perceived service quality provided by ISFs, while both usefulness and importance of information are positively correlated with perceived service quality. Implications these findings outlined along with directions for future research.
